Substitute for rug yarn?

Sounds like it will work for you but I would try to make something small that you can pull down using the J hook as it may not be large enough to hold all of those strands. If it turns out as well as you feel it will you may not want to put it on the floor to wear out from walking on it buy may use it for a wall hanging,
